The stairs are the job

Volume for volume, a basement takes longer than anywhere else in a house, and the reason is the staircase. Everything comes up one item at a time, usually round a turn, often under a low ceiling at the top. That is why a basement people have been "getting to" for three years takes us a morning: it is not skilled work, it is repetitive carrying, and it is exactly the part that causes back injuries when it is done alone.

Water damage

If a basement has flooded, treat anything porous that stayed wet as gone rather than dryable — carpet, underlay, upholstery, particle board and cardboard all hold moisture and grow mould behind the visible surface. Getting it out of the house fast matters more than sorting it carefully, and we can turn those around same-day.

Egress and access

Some basements have an outside stair or a window well big enough to pass items through, which is faster and keeps the traffic out of your living space. Mention it when you book — it is not always obvious from a photo and it can change how the crew sets up.

Sorting as we go

Point at what stays. Furniture in good shape gets set aside for donation rather than binned, and anything that looks like documents or photographs gets handed to you rather than judged from a box lid.
