Before we arrive
- Pull out anything you're keeping. The one rule that matters most, so nothing you love leaves by mistake
- Point out the pile (optional), items don't need to be moved or gathered, but knowing what goes speeds things up
- Clear a path if you can. An open route to the driveway helps, especially for bulky items
- Set aside donations, we'll drop off good-condition items for you if you flag them
What you can skip
You don't need to carry anything downstairs, disconnect appliances, or bag up yard debris, that's our job. Leave the heavy, awkward and dirty work to the crew.
When we get there

The short version
Do almost nothing. Full-service junk removal means the crew lifts, loads, sweeps and hauls. The preparation that actually helps takes about five minutes and is mostly about information, not tidying.
The five minutes that speed up the job
- Send a photo first. A picture of the pile gets you a firm price before anyone drives out. Text it to 801-516-9569.
- Say where the items are. Upstairs, basement, back garden, behind a locked gate, third floor with no lift. This changes the crew size and the time, and it is the single most common reason a job takes longer than quoted.
- Flag the heavy and awkward things. A piano, a safe, a hot tub, a treadmill, a shed. These need equipment, and equipment needs to be on the truck before it leaves.
- Pull out the hazardous items. Paint, solvents, fuel, propane and pesticides cannot go in the load. Setting them aside beforehand stops the crew having to unpack a pile mid-job. - Separate anything staying. The only genuinely expensive mistake on a junk removal job is something being taken that was meant to stay. If a keep-pile is anywhere near the go-pile, label it.
Things you do not need to do
- Do not move it all to the garage. It saves the crew a couple of minutes and costs you an afternoon and possibly your back.
- Do not take furniture apart. We will do it if it needs doing, and a lot of the time it does not.
- Do not clean up first. The space gets swept as part of the job.
- Do not bag loose items. Bagging makes a load take more space, not less.
On the day
Someone should be there at the start to point at what goes and confirm the price, and at the end for a quick look before the truck leaves. In between there is nothing to do. Parking matters more than people expect — the closer the trailer can get, the faster the whole thing is, so if there is a spot to keep clear, keep it clear.
