How these jobs actually run

Nothing is thrown out without being shown to you. The crew works in passes rather than clearing room by room in one sweep: first a path, then obvious rubbish, then sorting. That is slower than a normal cleanout on purpose, because the things that matter in these homes — documents, photographs, cash, jewellery — are usually not where you would expect them to be.

What we find, and what we do with it

Deeds, insurance policies, savings books, military records, family photographs and cash turn up regularly in these properties: inside books, taped under drawers, in coat pockets, in tins in the garage. Anything like that is set aside and handed to you, not binned. If you would rather set a rule in advance — "all paperwork and all photographs, nothing else" — that works too and makes the job faster.
