What debris costs a job that is not the tipping fee
The dump fee is the small number. What we cannot take, and it matters more on a job site
Asbestos-containing material is the one to watch on any pre-1980 remodel. Popcorn ceiling, vinyl floor tile, pipe lagging and some textured coatings are all candidates, and it has to be tested and abated by a licensed contractor, not hauled. Wet paint, solvents, fuels and pressurised cylinders also cannot go in a standard load. Assume anything in those categories stays on site until it is handled properly.
How this works around a build
- Recurring clears. On a longer job, a scheduled haul every week or two beats a skip sitting in the drive the whole time and costing rental while it is half full.
- Phase-end clears. After demo, after rough-in, before handover. The handover clear is the one that protects your final payment.
- Out-of-hours. Occupied remodels and commercial fit-outs usually need the noise and the truck outside working hours, which is why the phones are on 24/7.
- No permit issue. A trailer that arrives, loads and leaves does not sit on a street needing a permit the way a container does.
Pricing on a site
Same as any job — by how much room it takes in the trailer, with dense material like concrete and tile priced by weight instead. You get the number before anything is loaded, which means it can go into a change order accurately rather than as an estimate you revise later.
