What actually drives the number
- Material. A resin or vinyl shed comes apart in an hour. Timber takes longer and produces more debris. Metal is fast to dismantle and mostly recyclable. A shed with a shingled roof produces a surprising amount of weight in tear-off alone.
- Size. An 8×6 garden shed and a 12×20 workshop are different jobs, not different sizes of the same job.
- The floor and the base. A shed on skids lifts off. One on a concrete slab means deciding whether the slab goes too — and concrete prices by weight because it is dense.
- Anchoring. Ground anchors, bolts into concrete, or a frame that has been there long enough to have settled all add time.
- What is still inside. Most sheds are full. That is fine, but it is volume, and it is often the part with the paint tins and fuel cans in it.
- Access. Whether a trailer can get near it, or whether everything is carried round the side of the house.
The part people forget to budget for
Whatever is inside. A shed that has been up for fifteen years typically holds old paint, lawn chemicals, a half-can of petrol for a mower, and a decade of garden tools. Doing it yourself, honestly compared
A small resin shed is a genuine weekend job for two people with a socket set.
